The mystery over Vin Diesel’s recent meeting with Marvel Studios might have been solved! Probably.

Theories about his secret role have been plentiful – Thanos, The Vision, Luke Cage, are just three characters that have been bandied about – but it now seems he’ll be playing one of the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY themselves, namely this fella, Groot…

Diesel posted the above image of the sentient Space Tree on his Facebook, so he’s either confirming the role or just having a laugh at our expense. Given how this story is based solely on a single image, we don’t have a clue as to whether this will be a mo-cap gig, or if it’s just his trademark hard-bastard vocals Marvel wants to borrow. If it’s the latter, then expect Diesel to be in and out of the studio in an hour – the only dialogue Groot usually has in the comic books is “I am Groot”.
