After last week’s speculation, it has now been made official and The Grey and Warrior actor Frank Grillo (above) has been cast as the villainous Crossbones (below) in Anthony and Joe Russo’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier due to start filming soon for an April 2014 release. Grillo is an up and coming actor who has been solid in supporting roles for a couple of years now and seems like a perfect fit for a villain in the Marvel movieverse.

In addition to this solid casting news, word is that Samuel L.Jackson, Scarlett Johannson and Cobie Smulders will also appear as Nick Fury, Black Widow and Agent Maria Hill respectively. As previously reported Anthony Mackie has also already been cast as The Falcon with the role of Sharon Carter has yet to be cast with Imogen Poots, Alison Brie and Teresa Palmer all in contention for the love interest part.

Filming begins in March 2013.
