With it recently confirmed that England’s Neil Marshall will be helming NBC’s CONSTANTINE pilot, some details are now emerging on the titular character.

Back in 2005, fans were in uproar at the dark-haired, American Keanu Reeves portrayal of John Constantine. Fear not, loyal HELLBLAZER fans, for Bleeding Cool is reporting that the TV adaptation of the chain-smoking antihero will indeed be a blonde-haired Brit. Whilst this won’t mean much to those not particularly familiar with John Constantine, long-time fans will be singing in the streets at the hope that NBC’s series may give the character a true representation. If nothing more, it will at least move towards washing the taste of the Keanu Reeves-starring movie out of the mouth of those who felt it was an abomination.

At present, the script for the CONSTANTINE pilot is being written by David Goyer and Daniel Cerone. It’s said that the TV show will be more based on the “New 52” version of character rather than the original character that first appeared in the Vertigo books back in 1985. Basically, we’ll be getting a younger, hipper version of the John Constantine character.
