Universal may have given up on its Wolfman franchise (if WEREWOLF THE BEAST AMONG US is anything to go by) but they are moving full speed ahead on a new version of their underused CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON property.

The Hollywood Reporter have announced that the project has a new writer in the form of Dave Kajganich, who has previously penned their 2007 INVASION OF THE BODYSNATCHERS remake, THE INVASION. Despite the presence of both Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman, the film tanked. Despite this, Hollywood are still obviously very keen on Kajganich, with the writer also handling the remakes of Stephen King properties IT and PET SEMATARY for Warner Bros.

Strike Entertainment are overseeing CREATURE, so let’s hope it’s more along the lines (quality-wise) of their DAWN OF THE DEAD remake than that tepid rehash of THE THING they served up earlier this year.

In terms of the approach to the CREATURE feature, everybody’s staying schtum for now, but we’ll bring you news on any further developments…
