After dipping his toes in the water of horror with RED STATE, it seems as if Kevin Smith is set to immerse himself in the genre fully. For a few weeks now there’s been rumblings of him working on a film called TUSK… rumblings which have now been confirmed by the writer/director’s Twitter account.

Smith said, “Smodcast 259: TheWalrus&TheCarpenter debuts 6/25. Less than 1 month later… IT’S AN ACTUAL MOVIE IN PRE-PRO! Shooting 9/15: TUSK!”

No keep with us here, but the plot sounds a tad out there. The film is apparently a troubling and unsettling tale that focuses on a man who was once lost at sea with a walrus. Upon returning to land, the man puts out an advert for a roommate who will live with him rent-free. The only catch? Said roommate must wear a walrus costume and act like the animal for two hours a day. We’re assured that things then take a dark and sinister turn in the story.

Having developed the script with long-time collaborator Scott Mosier, Smith is rumoured to be eyeing Quentin Tarantino and RED STATE’s Michael Parks for the leads. As he himself tweeted, Smith will start shooting the film mid-September.
