Greetings programs! It looks like the chances of the world of TRON gracing our cinema screens once again have improved as DISNEY has hired a new writer to work on a follow up to 2010’s TRON: LEGACY.

Jesse Wigutow, who was already working with Disney adapting PETER PAN prequel PETER AND THE STARCATCHERS for the screen, is in negotiations to write the sequel, following an earlier draft by David DiGilio. Obviously at this stage the plot of this third TRON movie is still currently under wraps; will it follow the adventures of Sam Flynn and Quora following the second film or will it strike out in a new direction with a new set up and characters, similar to the side story explored in the well received animated prequel TRON: UPRISING, currently showing on DISNEY’S XD network starring Elijah Wood and Lance Henriksen.

Despite a lukewarm critical reception upon its release, TRON: LEGACY still managed to gross $400 million worldwide, enough it would seem to make both a sequel viable, as well as the retention of Joseph Kosinski as director.

No news yet on whether Kosinksi, who is currently directing Tom Cruise in sci-fi flick OBLIVION, and managed to sign French electronic music group M83 to produce the score for that film, will be able to convince DAFT PUNK to return to produce the score for TRON3, their orchestral/electro score being one of the best things from the previous film, along with the design of the world of TRON.
