After the ending of IRON MAN 3 saw Tony Stark essentially make a firework display out of most of his Iron Man suits, it appears that the hero will need some new superhero threads for the upcoming AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. Marvel’s Louis D’Esposito has been talking to IGN about what we can expect from Stark in the AVENGERS ASSEMBLE sequel.

D’Esposito said, “Tony Stark is leading the team with Captain America. We’re still developing the screenplay and Joss Whedon is writing furiously to get that finished, but obviously I’ve seen a couple of drafts. It’s hard for me to say at this point what he is doing, but you can see where it was at the end of IRON MAN 3; he’s in love with Pepper, he’s made a grand gesture to blow up the suits at that point, but at the end he couldn’t help himself. I think he will go back to tinkering – that’s what he does.”

So it seems that Stark and Cap will be stepping up to lead the Avengers team – all good with us. In an ideal world, this would be the first step to seeing Mark Millar’s CIVIL WAR story arc adapted for the big screen somewhere down the line. Also, that ideal world would see Marvel Studios/Disney be able to use Spider-Man and various other Marvel characters. Hey, we can dream, right?

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON is set to bring Marvel’s Phase Two of films to a close on 1st May, 2015.
