The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been a childhood staple for multiple generations and a truly global franchise. Those heroes in a half shell are indomitable and with the latest (and expensive) Michael Bay produced film on the way, it’s safe to say popularity isn’t waning.

For those looking for the whole truth, and nothing but, will want to get in on Paramount’s swanky documentary, Turtle Power: The Definitive History of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The documentary, written and directed by Randall Lobb, offers a full 30 year retrospective, one that’s sure to gear you for the new film. It may even just remind you why you fell in love with those sewer dwelling, pizza loving ninjas in the first place.

The official synopsis: ‘In the spring of 1984, a strange new comic book sat beside cash registers in select shops, too big to fit in the racks, and too weird to ignore.  Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles presented a completely original breed of superhero. It was too bizarre, too crazy. It broke all the rules and should never have worked. Until it sold out. Again and again and again. For 30 years. Now, peek under the shell and see how this so-called ‘happy accident’ defied every naysayer to become one of the most popular and beloved franchises in the world.’

Excited? The documentary will be released on DVD, VOD and Digital HD on August 12th.
