As with all of these casting rumours, take this with a pinch of salt, but if this story turns out to be true, Warners may have pulled off their most inspired piece of casting since Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent.

According to Cosmic Book News, Warners are looking at one time (and still best – in this writer’s opinion) James Bond Timothy Dalton to take on the role of Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth in the MAN OF STEEL sequel.

It is thought that Zack Snyder and David S. Goyer are looking at a different approach to the character, previously played on the big screen by Michael Gough and Michael Caine.

Could this different approach be in line with the new BEWARE THE BATMAN animated series and recent comic arc approach to the character, which sees Alfred as a former MI6 agent, who became the Wayne’s chief of security and then (following the deaths of Thomas & Martha) Bruce’s butler and trainer?

For all of the faults with MAN OF STEEL (of which this writer found there to be many), the casting was spot on and the sequel looks to continue this trend if this casting comes off and Dalton joins Ben Affleck in the Batcave for the sequel.

So what do you think? Is Dalton a good bit of casting or is there somebody better?
