After much festival buzz and great word of mouth (read our review here) Ti West’s latest effort THE INNKEEPERS is now available stateside on VOD. It should be coming to these shores later this year but in the meantime West already has his next project lined up…

THE SIDE EFFECTS is a sci-fi tale all about “Pharmaceutical testing and paranoia” and will be a considerably higher budget than he is normally used to as it involves “building spaceships” according to the director.

West also has a segment in the upcoming horror anthology THE ABCs OF DEATH which he directed and a segment in V/H/S which treads similar ground. V/H/S premieres at the Sundance film festival next week. THE SIDE EFFECTS should ramp up production in February.

With two brilliant horror movies under his belt, the fact that West is now giving his unique style over to the science fiction genre is something to celebrate. More news as and when it arrives.

And here’s the first casting news on the project…

Liv Tyler will play the lead role of Catherine Rigby, a woman isolated in space as part of a medical experiment conducted by the aforementioned pharmaceutical company. And the ‘paranoia’ part – down to the fact that she one day wakes up with a bun in the oven. Intriguing…
