Thor: The Dark World Box Office News

By Odin’s beard! THOR: THE DARK WORLD has proved its might at the international box office.

Disney-Marvel launched the latest THOR opus in thirty six territories this weekend and it certainly paid off. THOR: THE DARK WORLD earned a hefty $109.4 million making it the fourth-highest international debut this year for a Hollywood film before its American debut.

Marvel must be gratified that international audiences have enthusiastically embraced their characters’ movie exploits. And with the phenomenal success of IRON MAN 3 earlier this year it bodes well for CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER and THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY next year. In fact the future of comic book movies generally looks to be in rude health. It doesn’t look as though the four colour bubble is ready to burst just yet.

And watch out for the AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. / THOR: THE DARK WORLD crossover later this month (Channel 4 Friday 22nd) set “in the aftermath of the events chronicled in the feature film Marvel’s THOR: THE DARK WORLD”. In the episode entitled ‘The Well’, “Coulson and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pick up the pieces – one of which threatens to destroy a member of the team.”

Could there be a surprise cameo or two? We’ve already had one and as the episode clearly follows the events of THOR: THE DARK WORLD it’s certainly feasible.
