With yesterday bringing us news of Anthony and Joe Russo likely to return to direct CAPTAIN AMERICA 3, today brings an update on THOR 3.

Marvel has announced that a third Thunder God movie will be happening and that it will be penned by their Senior Vice President of Production and Development Craig Kyle, along with Christopher Yost. Yost was one of the guys that developed the screenplay for THOR: THE DARK WORLD.

Kevin Feige, Marvel big wig extraordinaire, said, “I am proud of Craig and have enjoyed working with him over these past years. His creative instincts have helped shape THOR and THOR: THE DARK WORLD at every level of the filmmaking process. The entire team at Marvel is very happy to continue collaborating with Crag as he continues as a screenwriter working with Christopher on the forthcoming chapter of Thor’s adventure.”

Craig Kyle started at Marvel Studios as the Creative Executive for their animation division back in 2001. He then went on to co-create X-23, the female Wolverine clone, in 2003. His other animated credits include work on a plethora of direct-to-DVD releases, such as the two ULTIMATE AVENGERS movies, PLANET HULK, DOCTOR STRANGE, THOR: TALES OF ASGARD and the HULK VS films. Kyle has also dabbled with certain comic book properties, having co-written some of the NEW X-MEN, X-23: INNOCENCE LOST and X-FORCE stories. It’s worth noting, his work on X-FORCE was alongside Christopher Yost, with whom he’ll be penning THOR 3 with.

Nothing is known on THOR 3 just yet, but Natalie Portman claimed that a third THOR would happen back in an interview from early last year, meaning that most fans have been expecting an announcement along these lines.

As for when THOR 3 could hit screens, Marvel’s Phase Three of films currently has three dates reserved for unknown pictures – 6th May, 2016, 8th July, 2016 and 8th July, 2017. Could the Son of Odin take one these dates? It seems very likely, if you ask us.
