It is Starburst's sad duty to report that one of Britain's most respected directors, Edgar Wright, has been caught red-handed taking bribes in exchange for plugging certain well know ice-cream based products in his films.
The scandal broke earlier this afternoon when the director, currently locked in the edit suite for THE WORLD’S END, unwisely tweeted a photo of himself receiving a delivery of the well known brand (which we won't give further publicity to by naming here) from what appears to be a not entirely convincing alien (do they know something about THE WORLD’S END that we don't?)…
Upon seeing the incriminating photo, we dug out our SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ DVDs and can confirm that the brand in question features prominently in the first two parts of the so-called 'blood and ice cream trilogy' (he even named his trilogy after them, the man's shameless!). We haven't seen THE WORLD’S END yet, but on the basis of this evidence we wouldn't be surprised if the delicious treats make a further appearance.
Whilst Starburst cannot condone this kind of behaviour, it's not entirely outside the realm of possibility that a similar delivery to Starburst HQ could lead to favourable publicity and/or a positive review of your new film which hits UK cinemas on July 18th!

Director Edgar Wright and actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reunite for a third film following the successes “Shaun of the Dead” (2004) and “Hot Fuzz” (2007). In “The World’s End,” 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by Gary King (Simon Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realise the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
