As THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2’s release gets ever closer (find our review here), Sony Pictures is also developing THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 4 and spin-offs VENOM and THE SINISTER SIX.

When these films were initially announced, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 was given a release date of 10th June, 2016 and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 4 would hit screens on 4th May, 2018. The two spin-off movies weren’t given release dates, although now comes word that they will both happen before THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 4.

Speaking to Den of Geek, producer Matt Tolmach revealed, “Before we know what we do with SPIDER-MAN 4 we’re going to do SINISTER SIX, VENOM and SPIDER-MAN 3. There is going to be a lot of crossover in those movies. So we’re just not at SPIDER-MAN 4, because we still have a whole other SPIDER-MAN movie and two other movies. So we don’t know yet what SPIDER-MAN 4 is going to be.”

It was also suggested that either VENOM or THE SINISTER SIX would actually take THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 4’s current release date of 4th May, 2018. That’s still a maybe at this point, though.

At the last count, Marc Webb will return to direct THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 but has ruled himself out of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 4. On the spin-off front, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Ed Solomon are writing VENOM, which will be directed by Kurtzman. THE CABIN IN THE WOODS’ Drew Goddard, who also happens to be penning Marvel’s Netflix-exclusive DAREDEVIL series, will be writing and likely directing THE SINISTER SIX.

Before any of those, though, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 is officially released on 16th April in the UK.
