While we weren’t that keen on Tarsem Singh’s last project, fairytale adap MIRROR MIRROR: THE UNTOLD ADVENTURES OF SNOW WHITE, we’re still rooting for the director to find a screenplay that will equal the quality of his skills behind the camera. Could Craig Rosenberg’s THE PANOPTICON be the one to restore Singh’s credibility back to the days of his critically acclaimed 2006 feature THE FALL? Rosenberg’s past genre movies have been a little on the uneven side (Demi Moore dud HALF LIGHT; THE UNIVITED), but the concept is certainly intriguing. The sci-fi action thriller will tell the tale an average Joe who receives a message warning him of an impending apocalypse, and a call to arms to prevent it. If that wasn’t weird enough… the message came from himself. Cue a race against time to figure out just what the hell is going on.

Singh will direct the project once he’s wrapped on the equally promising SELFLESS, hence we shouldn’t expect this until 2015 at the earliest. We’ll have more on THE PANOPTICON as it develops. Still, as encouraged as we our about these two projects, we really wish that SAMURAI JACK rumour had come to pass.

*Wondering what the hell, if anything, a Panopticon is? Me to. According to the googles it’s “a circular prison with cells arranged around a central well, from which prisoners could at all times be observed.” Intriguing…
