A movie version of THE OUTER LIMITS has been on the table for a little while now, and this weekend brings word that the film has found a director. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott Derrickson will be the man to oversee the flick. Derrickson is best known for the likes of SINISTER, DELIVER US FROM EVIL and THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE. He also appears to be the man who will helm Marvel Studios’ DOCTOR STRANGE.

THE OUTER LIMITS first started off as an anthology sci-fi and horror series which ran from 1963 to 1965. The show was then revived in 1995, when it would run until 2002. Whilst the series featured some bizarre and brilliant episodes, it’s said that this movie adaptation will focus on a particular episode by the name of “Demon with a Glass Hand.” That episode just so happens to feature genetic manipulation, alien invasion, and time-travel, with the anchor of the story having no memory beyond the last 10 days of his lifespan. As he realises that he has a computerised hand and is from the future, an alien race hunt him down. Sounds just about bonkers enough to work, right?

Derrickson will being work on the script shortly, whilst he’s similarly developing Marvel’s Doc Strange movie.
