After all the legal disputes (between New Line and Paramount) have been settled, we all knew it wouldn’t take long for Jason Voorhees to go out clubbing (people to death) one again. You’ll never guess when the film is coming out? Go on take a stab in the dark. That’s right Friday the 13th arrives on Friday the 13th… of March 2015. So that’s yet another film to add to the gargantuan release schedule of what could be the biggest cinematic year ever. Rumours have echoed throughout Crystal Lake that the next film in the franchise (the 13th should you count the 2009 remake and Freddy vs. Jason) will be presented in the found footage format. Still, writers, directors and cast are yet to be announced, let alone the concept, but it has long been thought that Derek Mears will reprise his role as the infamous hockey mask-wearing killer.

In all fairness this news will fill as many with dread as it does with joy. When it comes to this seemingly indestructible franchise people get very up in arms, yet Friday the 13th is far more unpretentious than many horror series out there and at the very least it ought to slay the audience who have awaited news for a while now. This writer in particular is rather a fan of this self-aware series, so until more news undoubtedly arrives, we can only sit behind the bushes and whistle ki ki ki ma ma ma. Jason will return.
