Was anybody really worried about all that post-IRON MAN 3 hoopla surrounding Robert Downey Jr’s contract running out and whether or not he’d ever don the suit again? Nah. Us neither. But what’s interesting about Marvel Studios’ announcement (read it in full here), is that the news confirms only AVENGERS sequels – part 2 hits in 2015, and 3, presumably, in 2018 – meaning that we’re very likely to have already seen the last of Downey Jr’s solo Iron Man adventures.

There’s no details regarding how much the studio had to cough up for the actor to return, but it’d only have made us sick to the stomach if we knew. Considering he got a reported $50m for THE AVENGERS, Downey Jr is on his way to becoming richer than the genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist he’s played since 2008!
