With THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 currently shooting in New York, Sony Pictures have made the bold move of announcing a further two films in the series. Following on from Marc Webb’s second Spider-Man film, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 is set for a 10th, June 2016 release, with THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 4 following on 4th May, 2018.

Sony’s Jeff Blake confirmed the news, saying, “Spider-Man is our most important, most successful, and most beloved franchise, so we’re thrilled that we are in a position to lock in these prime release dates over the next five years.”

Obviously Sony has a lot of faith in what Webb is doing with THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2.

Featuring Ol’ Webhead going up against the Rhino and Electro, Webb’s sequel is set to be released on 2nd May, 2014. Returning for the film are Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Sally Field and Martin Sheen. They’ll be joined by Paul Giamatti as the Rhino, Jamie Foxx as Electro, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn, and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn.

On a personal note, the 4th May, 2018 release date happens to land on my birthday, just the same as SPIDER-MAN 3 did. We all remember how well that turned up, right?
