As well as next month’s THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, Sony Pictures have confirmed that audiences will be getting THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 4, VENOM and THE SINISTER SIX. Speaking to EW, Amy Pascal and Avi Avad have been discussing how the events of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 will lead to the villain-centric THE SINISTER SIX spin-off.

Sony Pictures co-chairman Pascal said, “At the tail end of this movie we set up some of the other characters that will probably end up being in the Sinister Six. We’re going on all fronts.”

Producer Arad added, “Villains can be very entertaining. It’s not like somebody’s born and they’re a villain. Something happens and it changes their lives. Some people can deal with it – they become the heroes. Some people can’t and hate the world because of what they felt was done to them – they become the villains.”

From the footage and images that we’ve seen from THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 so far, it seems as if we’ll be seeing Doctor Octopus, Vulture and Kraven the Hunter in the future. All three of those have been members of the Sinister Six team at various points over the years. Whilst those characters are logical suggestions at this point, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 will definitely introduce us to Electro, Rhino and the Green Goblin.

The official synopsis for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 reads:

“It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Gafield”. For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swining between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realise that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.”

Directed by Marc Webb, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 is released on 18th April in the UK.
