Maria Howell is the latest name to be added to the swelling cast of THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE. Howell, who is best known to Starburst readers for her appearances in THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, and THE YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES (she played a character named Goldie in two episodes from 1993). Ok, fair enough, I’m guessing she’s still not ringing any bells with you guys. Anyone see THE BLIND SIDE? She was in that too. Anyone…?

Howell, as she’ll be seen in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming REVOLUTION

Howell will portray Seeder, a previous winner of the Hunger Games, who along with other victors are forced to compete once again in a new, cruel twist on the tournament, designed to redress the balance after Katniss humiliated the organisers in part one. Already cast as some of her competitors are Broadway star Lynn Cohen, DONNIE DARKO’s Jena Malone, Honey Bunny herself, Amanda Plummer, E. Roger Mitchell (BATTLE L.A.m.e.) and Meta Golding (of Bruce Willis dud SURROGATES), as Mags, Johanna Mason, Wiress, Chaff, and Enobaria respectively.

The one true score for Lionsgate though is the addition of Philip Seymour Hoffman as head gamekeeper Plutarch Heavensbee.

Expect lots more cast updates before the cameras start rolling later this year for a November 22nd 2013 release.
