It comes as no real surprise that GAMES OF THRONES’ Emilia Clarke has officially been announced to star as Sarah Connor in the upcoming TERMINATOR reboot. She will be reteaming with director Alan Taylor, who has helmed multiple episodes of HBO’s award-winning fantasy drama. Clarke has beaten her closest rival to the role, Brie Larson, to join the only other actor officially attached to the film, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Emilia Clarke is also set to be joined by Jason Clarke, who is in negotiations to play an adult version of her son John Connor (previously played by Edward Furlong in JUDGEMENT DAY, Nick Stahl in RISE OF THE MACHINES, Thomas Dekker in THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, and Christian Bale in SALVATION). The casting news comes from Deadline who also hint at a trip to the future for Sarah Connor in the films, which sees her meeting up with her son. Other reports suggest a storyline spinning off from a certain crucial point in the James Cameron’s 1984 original.

There’s been frequent announcements and rumours surrounding the reboot in recent days, including a spin-off TV series in development and the possible title – TERMINATOR: GENESIS, which is to say that more news is likely to come our way very soon. In particular confirmed casting of John Connor and Kyle Reese. The Paramount and Skydance produced film is due in July 2015.
