The character of Scooby-Doo and his pals have been a long-time favourite of several generations. Now comes word from Deadline that Scoobert is set to get revitalised once more for the big screen.

After SCOOBY-DOO and SCOOBY-DOO 2: MONSTERS UNLEASED in the 2000s, the cinematic franchise is set to be rebooted. The relatively unknown Randall Green has been brought in to write the script for this latest effort to bring Scooby, Shaggy and the gang back to cinema screens. Since MONSTERS UNLEASED there’s been a slew of low-budget, direct-to-DVD outings for the famous pooch.

Despite very little being known about the film at this stage, it’s expected that this new movie will be a completely separate entity to the movies of previous years, meaning no return for the likes of Matthew Lillard, Linda Cardellini, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Similarly, director Raja Gosnell is busy churning out high quality movies like, err, THE SMURFS.

Expect more on this as it develops.
