The year 2015 is going to be massive for cinema-goers, and Universal Pictures must have noticed. A recent twitter announcement came in saying they’ve changed the release date for their film based on the game THE WORLD OF WARCRAFT by a few months.

Originally, the Duncan Jones directed film was set to be released December 18 2015. However Universal must have felt the competition from J.J. Abrams’ STAR WARS EPISODE VII, which Disney later set on the same release date.

The news comes from the official World of Warcraft twitter account:

Release date for WARCRAFT from @Legendary Pictures released by @UniversalPics is moving from December 18, 2015, to March 11, 2016.

Although WARCRAFT seems to making better progress on the pre-production side than STAR WARS, the release date has more than likely been changed to avoid pressure from the galaxy far far away. There is only a short time between the December 2015 and March 2016 release dates and WARCRAFT already has some of its characters cast, so this will do nothing but help Duncan Jones’ schedule.
