Read into this what you will, but Paramount have decided to move the Michael Bay produced TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES film from its original release date of 6th June to 8th August.

According to Paramount the move is to fill the family film void that is the end of summer release schedule. It’s also to put more of a release gap between TURTLES and Bay’s next TRANSFORMERS film (which is due for release on 27th June).

The move has many online (for what that’s worth) speculating that this is a sign that the film is in trouble and that the move represents a lack of faith in the project (something fans have had for a long time).

Not that a lack of quality has harmed Bay’s box office that much in the past, and with the popularity of the most recent TURTLES cartoon on Nickelodeon, the film would have to have the worst marketing campaign in the history of cinema to fail to pull in a huge audience of 8 – 12 year olds. Just look at Bay’s TRANSFORMERS.

So what do you think? Is the move a bad sign or smart business? Will this take on TURTLES be a hit with its fans new and old? Let us know in the comments below.
