Remy LeBeau is one of the biggest fan-favourite characters in the Marvel world. For years, fans had been clamouring for Gambit to appear in one of the big screen X-MEN movies. Then, with 2009’s X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, fans were given what they wished for. A convoluted mess of a script led to that movie getting panned from fans and critics alike, with Taylor Kitsch’s Gambit one of the few shining lights of Logan’s first solo outing. In recent months, there’s been strong speculation that a solo Gambit movie may be on the horizon, with producer Lauren Schuler Donner going as far as saying that she would like to have Channing Tatum in the lead role. Speaking to the Chicago Tribune, Taylor Kitsch has been discussing these stories.

Asked whether he’d be open to a return as Gambit, the JOHN CARTER OF MARS star said, “I would under the right circumstances. But if he does it, good on him. He’ll kill it.”

Kitsch added, “It’s such a cool character. Whoever plays him will be a lucky guy. It is what it is. I’m not going to be like ‘Oh my God, why don’t I get to play him?’ If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. And if not, I’ll move on. If they him , I wish him nothing but the best. I hope he kicks the crap out of it.”

Whether a Gambit solo film does ever happen remains to be seen at this time, but 20th Century Fox has talked about their plans to fully utilise the vast array of X-Men characters available to them.

Up next for Fox is X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST later this year, with Josh Trank’s FANTASTIC FOUR, Jeff Wadlow’s X-FORCE and Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE also in development.
