Ok so MIRROR, MIRROR may look like a primary coloured nightmare but personally I enjoyed the hell out of IMMORTALS and its opening last weekend was substantial enough that people have taken notice. Therefore expect to see director Tarsem Singh become attached to a few more things over the coming months.

First one out of the gate has Singh attached to KILLING ON CARNIVAL ROW a unique take on the serial killer genre from hot writer Travis Beacham (PACIFIC RIM). The story takes place in the future where a city called Burgue resembles an 18th century London. The city is inhabited by both humans and creatures and a serial killer is on the loose. The film has been in the works for a long time and once had Neil Jordan and Guillermo Del Toro involved, but so far hasn’t climbed out of development hell.

The film has powerhouse producing duo Anne and Arnold Kopelson behind the film and they are hoping to start filming June 2012 in New Orleans. Singh’s visual style is unparalleled in modern cinema but I will allow that he needs to work on his story telling skills. Hopefully KILLING ON CARNIVAL ROW has a fairly meaty and layered script that Singh’s visuals will complement nicely.
