After yesterday’s Saoirse Ronan rumours come more potential STAR WARS casting – Michael B. Jordan and David Oyelowo may be up for roles in EPISODE VII.

The two have worked with Lucasfilm before – they both appeared in 2012 war drama RED TAILS – and have genre experience – Jordan was recently in CHRONICLE, while OYELOWO appeared in RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES and will soon be seen in Chris Nolan’s INTERSTELLAR. With this in mind, it’s entirely possible that there’s truth in them having auditioned for roles in JJ Abram’s new instalment of the STAR WARS saga.

Nevertheless, these are all just rumours, but with EPISODE VII scheduled for 2015, it can’t be too long until we get something concrete.

Meanwhile, director Abrams has been talking to EW about the tone he’ll be going for. Asked which of the existing films his sequel will be most comparable to, he said it’s “Impossible for me to say because it’s going to be an evolving thing. I would say we are working really hard to make a movie that feels as emotional and authentic and exciting as possible. Whatever your favorite Star Wars movie is and how to compare it is really sort of subjective.”

He then added, “It’s been nice see that how important it is and to be reminded how important it is to so many people. We all know that to feel real; to feel authentic. I remember I felt that way when I was 11 years old when I saw the first one. As much of a fairy tale as it was, it felt real. And to me, that is exactly right.”

It sounds like the saga could be in good hands – if Episode VII matches the grand, adventurous tone of the original trilogy, we’ll be happy fans.
