So who does this information come from? Disney? J.J. Abrams? Mark Hamill himself? No, from the fountain of all knowledge, Samuel L Jackson.

Recently, Jackson seems to have taken it upon himself to become our movie news saviour by announcing developments before the studios do. First he confirms Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch in THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, now he’s telling us (via David Letterman) that J.J. Abrams is yet to contact Hamill about reprising his role as Luke Skywalker!

When STAR WARS EPISODE VII was first announced, Hamill came out publicly to stay George Lucas is bringing him in to reprise his role as Luke. However, this does not mean Jackson should be ignored as a mad man. Between Lucas’ and Jackson’s announcements, the screenplay has been taken over by Abrams, so it’s fair to say J.J. might be leaving Luke out. Note the “might”.

If it is true, the question of why Luke Skywalker won’t be in the next installment will have to turn up. There’s no doubt the theories will be flowing until the Christmas 2015 release date.

We’ll have to wait for something official, but I’m not going to argue with Mace Windu. He’s got a purple lightsaber!
