The last time we ran a STAR WARS story relating to John Williams, all signs pointed towards the legendary composer being eager to return to the franchise, so the following news nugget will really only serve to reinforce the notion that EPISODE VII will remain faithful to the original saga, despite Lucas handing over the reins to Disney. At a recent press conference for STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, Director J.J. Abrams was quizzed over whether his long-time composer Michael Giacchino (ALIAS, LOST, STAR TREK, FRINGE, SUPER 8, ALCATRAZ, M:I-GHOST PROTOCOL, INTO DARKNESS) would be involved in scoring EPISODE VII, to which he answered:

” truly one of the most influential members of our crew, and I think this score (STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS), he really outdid himself. …For STAR WARS, it’s very early days, but I believe that, going forward, John Williams will be doing that film, because he was there long before I was.”

As fabulous as Giacchino’s work is, Williams’ score is one of most integral components to the spirit of STAR WARS, so to hear talks are already in place is cause for further celebration indeed. Roll on 2015!
