There’s been strong rumours recently that Benedict Cumberbatch will be a part of J.J. Abrams’ upcoming STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. With the SHERLOCK star having previously worked with Abrams on STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS – not to mention the fact that us Brits make great villains, right? – Cumberbatch joining a galaxy far, far away is an obvious link to make. Speaking to The Telegraph, the actor has been addressing these rumours.
Cumberbatch said, “Of course I’d love to do STAR WARS and work with J.J. Abrams again because we had such a good time on STAR TREK. But nobody has been cast and there are no offers out to anyone apart from the regulars who are returning. So that’s that rumour quashed.”
He then cheekily added, “We’ll have to wait and see.”
It seems to us as if Cumberbatch is most definitely keeping his cards close to his chest. Here’s hoping that he appears in at least one part of the upcoming trilogy.
At present, STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is on track for a 2015 release.
