It’s time to dust off those gold bikinis folks because everyone’s favourite brother-kissing Princess is back. In an interview with Palm Beach Illustrated, Carrie Fisher was asked “Can you confirm whether you’ll reprise the role of Princess Leia?” to which she simply responded “Yes”.

She went on to describe how she envisaged her character as “Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home… I just think she would be just like before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle.”

With Fisher now confirmed, it should only be a matter of time until both Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill. A few weeks ago Hamill revealed that “they want us to go in and meet with Michael Ardnt, who is the writer, and Kathleen Kennedy”.

It sounds like Lucasfilm are keen to have the three involved, possibly getting some ideas for the script to secure their return perhaps? Could Ford finally get his wish to kill Han Solo off? Are we just getting drip fed information to keep us buzzed about EPISODE VII?

All will be revealed here as the casting announcements arrive, but in the meantime let us know in the comments below or on Twitter @STARBURST_MAG

Fisher’s reps tell CNN: “She was joking. Nothing has been announced.”

She was joking about the Intergalactic old folks home?! And here’s us, taking her at her word. C’mon guys, just make it official already. We all know it’s pretty much a done deal.
