Hot on the heels of yesterday’s wild rumour that Lucasfilm are quietly mulling a Yoda movie, comes confirmation that the idea of spin-off features taking place outside of the main narrative of VII-IX are indeed on the cards. Over to Disney head cheese Bob Iger…

“We are in fact working on a few stand-alone films. Larry Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are both working on films derived from great Star Wars characters that are not part of the overall saga. So we plan to make Star Wars VII, VIII and IX over roughly a six-year period of time starting in 2015. But there are going to be a few other films released in that period of time too.”

So it’s official. We can actually start to get excited about the idea of even more STAR WARS movies heading our way, and, more importantly, get down to the very serious business of discussing which of our favourite characters should get their own flick!
