Whilst the post-credits scene for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 was a moment from the upcoming X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, it appears that there was a whole lot more going on during the end credits sequence.

Sony Pictures have released a statement that reads, “After seeing THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 – opening on May 2nd – be sure to Shazam the end credits sequence featuring the song ‘It’s on Again’ by Alicia Keys featuring Kendrick Lamar to unlock a look into the sinister future.”

Firstly, we’re not too familiar with ‘It’s on Again,’ Kendrick Lamar or Shazam (bar Billy Batson’s famed phrase). ‘Mr Blue Sky,’ ELO and cassette players (Google ‘em, kids), we know far too well. After a little bit of digging, it appears that the Shazam in question is an app for those modern, fangled mobile phone devices. It allows the user to do all kinds of wonderful things with music and music videos. Right, so what does this have to do with Spider-Man and his gallery of rogues, we hear you ask? Well, if you “Shazam” said end credits, you are greeted with the six below teaser images…

So, just to ruin any suspense and intrigue, it appears that Sony Pictures has caved in and blown their load like an over-excited teen who’d just seen Linda Lusardi for the first time (again, Google her, kids). Whilst THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 did massively hint and nod towards certain members of the cinematic Sinister Six that is being planned, we were still hoping that there was a bit more mystique and suspense ahead. Sadly not. Judging from the above images, it appears that the six bad eggs that will be going up against the Wallcrawler will be the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Rhino, Vulture, Kraven the Hunter, and Mysterio. The group are set to get their own Spidey spin-off down the line with THE SINISTER SIX.

The original comic book Sinister Six team was made up of Doctor Octopus, Vulture, Kraven, Mysterio, Electro, and Sandman. Over the years, there’s been various villainous types join the group, then there’s been some expansions to the team, such as the Sinister Seven and the Sinister Twelve.

At this point, the strong rumour is that the Drew Goddard-directed THE SINISTER SIX movie will take the 4th May, 2018 release date that was pencilled in for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 4.
