With Josh Trank given the task of rebooting the FANTASTIC FOUR for 20th Century Fox, things are starting to move forward in terms of getting some actual actors signed up for some actual roles in the actual film. Variety is claiming to have the scoop on six names who have been asked to come in and test for certain roles.

First up, in talks for the role of Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, we have GAME OF THRONES’ Kit Harrington THIS IS ENGLAND’s Jack O’Connell, and RABBIT HOLE’s Miles Teller.

In talks for Sue Storm, aka Invisible Woman, are AMERICAN HORROR STORY’s Kate Mara, THE WOLF OF WALL STREET’s Margot Robbie, and the ‘linked to every upcoming geeky film going’ Saoirse Ronan.

As for the other characters, Michael B. Jordan’s name has been constantly banded about for the role of Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch aka ‘Johnny Flame Boy.’ To complete the team, we have Ben Grimm, aka The Thing. All things Thing are quite at present, although Terry Crews has recently declared his interest in playing the character.

With the names above that are linked to Reed and Sue, it definitely seems like Fox is going for a youthful take on the FF, which seems a little misguided to me. As much as the likes of Harrington and O’Connell have been brilliant in certain roles, would you really buy them as ‘seasoned scientist’ Reed Richards? Not really. If Reed and Sue are to be of such a relatively young age, then Johnny Storm still needs to be a lot younger than these characters, which could cause some problems.

At present, Simon Kinberg is working on the screenplay for the reboot, with a 6th March, 2015 release being currently targeted.
