Hollywood star Seth Rogen and long-time collaborator Evan Goldberg are partnering up once more to create a feature film based around the console wars between Sega and Nintendo.

The film will be based upon a book written by Blake Harrison entitled CONSOLE WARS: SEGA, NINTENDO AND THE BATTLE THAT DEFINED A GENERATION which is set for a release in August 2014. The book is being touted as a business thriller that follows the rise of Sega as they begin to rival the industry juggernaut Nintendo.

Goldberg and Rogen in the past have worked on some of the best comedy films of recent years, with SUPERBAD, PINEAPPLE EXPRESS and THIS IS THE END all under their belts. Both are lined up to write the script as well as direct the feature. MONEYBALL and THE SOCIAL NETWORK producer Scott Rudin has signed to produce, while the author Blake Harris will be executive producer.

It’s hard to imagine at this stage whether this will be comfortable comedy territory for the pair, or if it will become something much more challenging. Either way, if we get a comedy just as good as some of their previous works, we’re definitely in for a nostalgic gaming treat!
