Fans of THE GOONIES may wish to turn away now. Yes, as the title says, it looks like we may be about to get a sequel to the 1985 classic.

Speaking to TMZ, director Richard Donner, when asked if he’d ever do another comic book movie, said, “If you call GOONIES a comic book. We’re doing a sequel.”

Whilst he didn’t confirm any plots specifics, Donner did go on to say that the current plan is for the entire original cast to return. We guess that means Corey Feldman’s back in work, at least.

The original gang was made up of Feldman, Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Jonathan Ke Quan, Kerri Green and Martha Plimpton. We know Goonies never say die, but is a sequel really necessary? As well as this, there are some early rumblings of a possible reboot for Joe Dante’s classic GREMLINS.

Expect to hear more on this as it develops.
