Korean Director Chan-wook Park, he of the excellent ‘Vengeance Trilogy’ that comprised of SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE, OLDBOY and LADY VENGEANCE, is getting ready to debut his first English language movie, STOKER. Penned, bizarrely, by PRISON BREAK star Wentworth Miller, the film tells the tale of a mysterious Uncle (WATCHMEN’s Matthew Goode) who enters the lives of a grieving mother and daughter after “his brother” passes away. Those quotation marks were required since neither the mother (Evie Stoker, played by Nicole Kidman) nor daughter (India Stoker, Mia Wasikowska) ever knew he existed, so there’s a pretty big possibility he’s a shyster. A shyster who quickly divides the pair and seemingly has grand plans for the teenaged India, quite possibly of a supernatural nature. We know for sure there’s a horror element in there somewhere, but the filmmakers are keeping their lips sealed as to what it is, and the following first look clip doesn’t give us any clues either, though it certainly imbues a sense of dread, that’s for sure. Check it out in the player below and let us know what you think. Oh, it comes courtesy of Entertainment Tonight btw, so apologies for the cheesy voiceover. They’ll be a trailer soon anyway. But for now…

Oo, oo, oo, hang on! Stoker! As in… Bram Stoker perhaps? Could Park be following up his 2009 film THIRST with another tale of vampirism? We’ll have to wait until March 1st 2013 to find out for sure…
