Starring as the badass Winter Soldier in the upcoming CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, Sebastian Stan recently revealed to Newsarama that he has a nine-picture deal with Marvel Studios. After appearing as Bucky Barnes in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER and set to return as the Winter Soldier in the sequel, that leaves another possible seven appearances for the actor. Now, whether Stan is brought back for any of those possible seven appearances all depends on whether Marvel/Disney decide that they want him to return. That large contract does throw up a whole host of possibilities, though.

Given that the comic book version of the Winter Soldier becomes a hero in his own right at points, not to mention Bucky even taking on the Captain America persona after Steve Rogers is killed, Marvel Studios could take several different routes with the cinematic version of the character. To add further to this, Chris Evans is only actually contracted for three more Marvel Studios films, which could pave the wave for Bucky to step into the Sentinel of Liberty’s shoes. Surely the studio wouldn’t have the balls to go through with the death of Steve Rogers on the big screen, right? If it happens, it could be epic.

Either way, Sebastian Stan is set to rock your world as the Winter Soldier in the Russo brothers’ CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, released on 26th March in the UK. What happens to the character after that, let’s wait and see. Still, we wouldn’t bet against another villain overseeing things in THE WINTER SOLDIER, with Stan’s character merely a puppet that ends up seeing the errors of his ways. Arnim Zola, anyone?
