The trilogy of Mass Effect games are some of the best, most absorbing in terms of narrative that has so far been seen on this latest generation of consoles, so of course a film adaptation is in the works of this epic sci-fi trilogy.

Legendary Pictures picked up the rights two years ago and hired Thor screenwriter Mark Protosevich to take a crack at it but nothing seems to have come of it. Now newcomer Morgan Davis Foehl has been brought in to craft a new screenplay. Despite having a screenplay on the ‘Black List’ in 2009, David Foehl has yet to see any of his work produced. The guy also has a comic book adaptation of Crosshair in the works.

Mass Effect was first released in 2007 and takes place in the year 2183 and follows the exploits of Commander Shepard, a veteran soldier and commander of the spaceship Normandy. He leads the fight against an alien race that invades the galaxy every 50,000 years and wipes out all organic life. Hmmm, sounds expensive…
