“What’s your favourite scary TV show?” Whilst it might not have quite the same ring to it, there’s a good possibility you’ll be asked it quite soon, with the news that MTV are moving forward with a new show based around the popular slasher series.

The network, best known for god-awful reality shows and even occasionally music, first talked about the prospect last summer, but have now commissioned a pilot based on the series, and are in talks with Wes Craven (who directed all four movies) to direct. Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original as well as two of the sequels isn’t involved in the new pilot, which is scheduled to air in summer 2014. No news yet on whether Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox or David Arquette are likely to return. We’d imagine Campbell at the least will be eagerly waiting by the phone (ironic considering how much trouble she’s got into answering it in the past).

So, what do you think, could SCREAM work on the small screen or is the series dead and buried after the disappointing SCREAM 4? We’re going with ‘cautiously optimistic’.
