We are pleased as punch that a decent horror movie like Sinister actually made money. So it seems are Blumhouse Productions because they have gone and signed Derrickson up for another project, a film version of King’s novella The Breathing Method.

The Breathing Method is notable for being the only part of book Different Seasons that hasn’t yet made it to screens. The other parts were The Shawshank Redemption, Stand By Me and Apt Pupil, all of which made it to screens relatively intact. The Breathing Method has been previously called ‘unfilmmable’ and tells the tale of a pregnant lady in the 1930s who learns a method of breathing for her labour and then loses her head in an accident whilst somehow still alive thanks to the titular method.

Scott Teems will write the screenplay but financing is not yet in place for what producer Jason Blum hopes will follow in Sinister’s footsteps and be a box office draw.
