Yet another YA novel has attracted the attentions of Hollywood, with Michael Grant’s ambitious sci-fi property BZRK the latest to be adapted for the big-screen.

Sony Pictures have procured the rights, with Sam Raimi & Josh Donen handling production duties and Michael Ross penning the screenplay. Ross is relatively new to the writing scene but has been active in the industry since 1996, working as an Editor. Somebody must have recently noticed his previously untapped screenwriting talent though, as he’s currently attached to six(!) other upcoming projects, including a futuristic take on Robin Hood and the long-in-development NEAR DARK remake.

So what of BZRK’s story for those of you who haven’t read it? Well, it’s the first of a planned trilogy (so Sony will be banking on this to kick-start a franchise of its own), it’s set in the future… it’s got teenagers in it, who… fight… with nanobots… and… erm… Ok, I admit it, I haven’t read it either. Let’s just have a read of the book’s official synopsis instead…
