Though Robert Rodriguez recently confirmed the long-awaited sequel (read our story here) it was in doubt as to which actors would return to reprise their characters – it has been 7 years after all. Well worry not, for we have fresh info courtesy of an MTV interview that at least two of the most iconic roles will be played by the original actors, with Mickey Rourke returning as Marv (which given the prickly nature of the actor was never a going to be a sure thing), and Rosario Dawson once again donning the fishnets for Gail.

Despite the actor seeming up for it it’s still not known whether Clive Owen will again portray Dwight, but that’s not really a concern considering that A DAME TO KILL FOR is actually a prequel, making recasting totally acceptable due to the extensive facial reconstruction the character had gone through when we first met him. We need the number of his plastic surgeon.

Michael Madsen, who had a smaller role in the first as Bob, has also told ComicBookMovie.com that he will once again play the police officer Bob, who has a much larger role in the source material.

As for the much-rumoured appearance of Angelina Jolie as the titular Dame, that’s still very much up in the air, as Rodriguez admits he’s yet to meet her. Given the movie will shoot in the summer, straight after MACHETE KILLS (kicking off production next month), we suspect that Ms. Jolie’s calendar might be a little on the full side.

SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR will hit cinemas 2013.
