You cannot have been the only person to react violently and without discrimination at any news of a Robocop remake. The 1987 film by Paul Verhoeven is rightly regarded a classic of sci-fi with many horror elements and layers of satire to boot. So fans were annoyed to say the least at the thought of a glossy PG-13 remake and yet when the teaser trailer shot onto computer screens in September, many felt a little more optimistic than before. Then again, we have been here before (last year’s Total Recall).

Regardless of that though, Robocop is gearing up for next year and with a new official trailer to be released tomorrow, Entertainment Tonight has released this 15-second sneak peek. Within there is action, effects, quips and Gary Oldman, which sets the tone nicely and generates a charge for tomorrow’s trailer release. Many may still be unsure about this one but in all fairness it looks better than we expected.

The film will be released on 7th February 2014 and is directed by Elite Squad’s José Padilha and stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jay Baruchel. See below for the official synopsis and stay with Starburst for more Robocop news, citizens.
