Rob Zombie

Rob Zombie has elaborated a little more on his recently announced film, 31. When he unveiled just the title and a messed-up looking clown face in a video last month (see here), it led to all sorts of buzz as to whether the number referred to Halloween, as in a return to the franchise, and if the clown is fan favourite Captain Spaulding.

However, speaking to Radio Metal, the musician-turned-filmmaker revealed that the title is, “31, yeah, because it takes place on October 31st“, but when asked if the demented Spaulding would be back he was a little more forthcoming, “No, it’s totally different. All I can tell you is that it’s a completely original idea, it’s something new. It’s not based on anything. I’ll start shooting the movie in the fall. So hopefully starting from October, I’ll start shooting it. For right now, I’m going to keep the details secret. But it’s not based on anything. He doesn’t really look like him, I think. There’s a clown thing in the movie, but it has nothing to do with Captain Spaulding. And what is in the movie doesn’t look like Captain Spaulding either, maybe the people think the poster does but the movie won’t“.

He would not be drawn into revealing anything about the plot, however.

No doubt, more news will emerge concerning casting and plot soon.
