It was recently announced that Warner Brothers was moving their MAN OF STEEL sequel back from 17th July, 2015 to 6th May, 2016, prompting fan speculation to run wild. Stories ranged from scripting issues to Ben Affleck injuring his leg and having to pull out. Well, Deadline is now reporting that, yes, the film will be released on 6th May, 2016, but that it will start production as initially planning: as in shortly.

Central to all of this is the pilot episode of a show called THE MIDDLE MAN. Affleck was originally set to direct the pilot but had to pull out due to his BATMAN VS SUPERMAN schedule. With the production of Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL sequel presumed to be delayed, Affleck was then available to direct THE MIDDLE MAN, right? Wrong, the actor/writer/director/Batman is still unavailable due to the MAN OF STEEL sequel commencing production as initially planned.

All of this means that we can expect the principal cast of BATMAN VS SUPERMAN to being work imminently, with February regularly claimed to be the month that all systems are go. It appears that this change in release date for the Batman and Superman tear-up/team-up has been made purely to give the powers that be more time to create their vision.

And to think, only in the last few days has there been rumours that Affleck was having issues with David Goyer’s script and was about to walk. Shame on you, Affleck-doubters.
