After yesterday’s trailer, the next Tom Cruise-led sci-fi film, Edge of Tomorrow (formerly known as All you Need is Kill – not a twisted version of The Beatles hit but the name of the source 2004 Japanese novel) now has an action-drenched new poster. Boldly boasting the “Live. Die. Repeat” tagline, the poster is quite Elysium-y in terms of looks, but next to the interesting trailer, it at the very least promises to be somewhat explosive, joining the line of upcoming slick science fiction action-driven features that populate 2014 (Robocop, X-Men Days of Future Past, Godzilla, Jupiter Ascending, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy and so on).

Directed by The Bourne Identity’s Doug Liman, this film could be one of the pleasant surprises of the upcoming cinematic year. The official synopsis reads:

The epic action of Edge of Tomorrow unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world. Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Tom Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy

The film goes all guns blazing over the UK Box Office, on the 30th May 2014.
