Right, treat this purely, purely as rumour for now…

On a recent episode of his Hollywood Babble-On podcast, Kevin Smith confirmed that he seen the new Batsuit that will be used in Zack Snyder’s BATMAN VS SUPERMAN. Not only that, he’d seen a picture of Ben Affleck in the cape and cowl. On the pod, he revealed that the suit looked just like a certain suit from the comic books. In fact, he even beeped out the comment on his podcast for fear of spoiling anything too much.

Now, a few people who were apparently at said pod recording have taken online to confirm what exactly Smith said that he then beeped out. And, with that, Smith is said to have reported that new suit as looking like a Jim Lee Batsuit. Now, Jim Lee is one of the greatest comic book artists of all time, with his most notable work coming with Batman and with his brilliant ’90s run with the X-Men. In fact, this particular writer’s favourite ever Bat tale is BATMAN: HUSH, which was written by Jeph Loeb… and drawn by Jim Lee.

If this news proves to be, my head may just combust. Last week came confirmation of a Daredevil TV series, news of Dick Grayson appearing in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN, and now it seems that maybe, just maybe, the new Batsuit is to be based on the work of one of my all-time favourite comic book artists.

It was previously reported that the new suit would resemble that of 2011′s BATMAN: NOEL graphic novel, and, in fairness, there are a few similarities between that suit and some of Lee’s work.

As mentioned, treat this purely as a rumour for now, but here’s hoping…

BATMAN VS SUPERMAN is currently looking at a 17th July 2015.
