Just yesterday we heard from Sam Rockwell that the rumours of his involvement in the POLTERGEIST remake were indeed true. While we wait for confirmation that the actor is officially signed on as the Bowen family patriarch, today comes some more casting news, this time a little more concrete.

It was recently revealed actor Jared Harris (above left) would be reuniting with his SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS director Guy Ritchie for the latter’s upcoming MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. reboot (role unspecified), now he’s added a leading part in POLTERGEIST to his roster also. Harris will portray a paranormal expert who becomes involved in the family’s plight via his cable TV show HAUNTED HOUSE CLEANERS.

The second confirmed casting is that of Kyle Catlett, best known as THE FOLLOWING’s Joey Matthews, who will play one of the Bowen family’s youngest. We wonder whether this little fella will be a coulrophobe too?

The above join Rosemarie DeWitt (and most likely Rockwell) in the film, which will be directed by MONSTER HOUSE’s Gil Keenan and produced under Sam Raimi’s GHOST HOUSE banner.

In a revisionist take on the classic horror film, a family struggling to make ends meet relocates to an outdated suburban home and is confronted by an angry spirit who kidnaps their youngest daughter and challenges them to band together to rescue her from the clutches of evil.

POLTERGEIST will haunt cinemas sometime in 2014.
